Networks are now an
essential part of almost all corporate I.T.
infrastructures. Networks are routinely used to
allow multi-user access to bespoke software,
resources such as printers or the Internet and
email both internal and Internet email. If your
company uses more than one computer system then
the chances are that you could benefit from
having a network. Networking need not be expensive...
At the two or user
end of the spectrum networking need not be
expensive. If your requirements are just to share
resources such as printers and data files then
all that is required is:
- a minimum of
hardware (network adapters for each
computer)
- network
software (this is built in to some
operating systems so you may already have
it)
- the cabling
to connect the computers.
Realistic
prices...
On a larger scale
you will need more expensive hardware such as
servers and a greater network infrastructure.
Although this is more expensive (traditionally
the I.T. industry has charged quite highly for
these services), we ha ve saved our customers thousands of
pounds by charging realistic prices or acting as
liaison/consultant with other companies (e.g.
software companies) and keeping their prices in
check.
You can combine
your telephone system and computer network.
Many organisations
are unaware of the extent that some network
infrastructure can go to.
For example
category 5 network installations should allow
your telephone exchange system to be integrated
with the computer network wiring. Therefore you
have only one set of wiring and if someone moves
to a different geographic location in the
building but wants to keep their extension then
it is very easy to re-patch the extension to the
socket in the new location. It is for this reason
that we work in partnership with companies that
provide telephone systems.
Just think of the
money you could save having just one set of
wiring installed round your site rather than two!
